Useful For

​Ova and Parasite Comprehensive Exam screens for Isospora but it is only reported if identified.

Cryptosporidia is not included.  Order test code NBLD0221 (Cryptosporidia/Cyclospora Smear).

*The Green Cap Para-Pak EcoFix used for O&P is not acceptable for Giardia lamblia antigen.

The recommended test for suspected parasite infections is Cryptosporidium/Giardia Rapid Assay (NBLD0418).


O&P Comprehensive Exam should only be ordered on patients that meet the following criteria:

1. Recent travel to a developing country

2. Resident of a developing country

3. Undiagnosed eosinophilia

4. Previous test(s) for parasites are negative but symptoms persist​
