Collection Processing Instructions

Uses kit test. 1 mL whole blood collected in EDTA Lavender Top Tube or Cheek Swab collected in DNA Genotek ORAcollect Dx (OCD-100) *This is provided in kit. Send specimen in original tube. Transport refrigerated. Follow kit instructions. Reminder: prior to taking the sample, wait thirty minutes after eating, drinking, smoking or chewing gum. To take the sample, remove the collector swab from the package, being sure the sponge tip does not come into contact with any other surface. Place the swab on your lower gums and swab back and forth 10 times. Switch to the other side of your mouth and swab 10 more times. Hold the tube upright, unscrew the blue cap and insert the sponge into the tube, closing tightly. Shake the tube ten times. Labeling: Specimen tube must be labeled with collection date and two unique patient identifiers for kits not provided by OneOme. OneOme provided kits are pre-labeled. Do not obstruct original tube label. Kit Activation: OneOme-supplied cheek swab collection kits must be activated prior to returning the sample to OneOme. The activation step will link the pre-labeled barcode to the test order upon confirmation that two unique identifiers including the patient name and date of birth match the original order. The sample collection date is also provided to OneOme during the kit activation process. Whole blood is stable refrigerated for 3 weeks. Cheek Swab is stable room temperature for 60 days. When you order the test for your patient, there are three payment options. We offer a patient self-pay option (U.S. only), insurance billing (U.S. only), and institutional billing. When billing to insurance or an institution, the price may vary.
