To provide qualitative assessment of platelet function in patients on platelet inhibitor drugs, particularly clopidogrel, prasugrel, ticagrelor or cangrelor. For patients on these drugs or have recently discontinued them, PlateletMapping ADP on TEG6s may help assess adequacy of platelet function and risk for excessive bleeding prior to cardiovascular surgery or other surgical procedures with risk for high blood loss.
Do not use a needle smaller than a 21 gauge for collection. Draw DISCARD tube first (use a no-additive tube). Collect full GTT. It is best to store tubes by laying them on their side, instead of standing them in a rack. Deliver to lab immediately. Sample must arrive in lab within 15 minutes of collection. Cannot be shared with other coagulation tests.
Do not centrifuge sample specimen. Keep at room temperature.
