Serum
and *Platelet Poor Plasma
Red Top Tube (RTT) and 3.2% Citrated Blue Top Tube (BTT) Serum Separator Tube (SST) 1.0 mL serum and 6.75 mL citrated plasma divided into two 1.5 mL aliquots and five 0.75 mL aliquots 1.0 mL serum and  4.5 mL citrated plasma divided into two 1.5 mL aliquots and two 0.75 mL aliquots 1.0 mL serum and 3.0 mL citrated plasma divided into one 1.5 mL aliquot and two 0.75 mL aliquots
Collection Processing Instructions
Serum (RTT or SST):  Samples collected in a RTT must be removed from the clot within one hour for storage or transport. Samples collected in a SST must be processed and serum removed from the primary tube within 4 hours for storage or transport.

Citrated Plasma (BBT):  Collect in approximately 4-5 Citrated Blue Top Tubes (BTT).  The minimum 3.0 mL citrated platelet poor plasma volume can usually be obtained by drawing two 4.5 mL OR three 2.7 mL blue top tubes.
- Citrate anticoagulant must be adjusted for HCT >55%.
- Tube must be at least 90% full.
- Invert completely 3-4 times (without shaking) to mix.

Test Information
Prothrombin Time, Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time, Dilute Russell Viper Venom Time (DRVVT), PTT-Lupus Anticoagulant (PTTLA), Beta 2 Glycoprotein Screen (B2GSCRN), and Cardiolipin Ab Screen (ACLSCN) will be performed. If the PT and/or APTT are prolonged mixing studies will be performed.  Reflex testing for factor assays will be performed based on the results of PT (INR) and/or APTT mixing studies and the basic coagulation scheme.  If the ACLSCN is positive an Anticardiolipin IgA (ACLA), Anticardiolipin IgG (ACLG) and an Anticardiolipin IgM (ACLM) will be performed.  If the B2GSCRN is positive a Beta-2-Glycoprotein I IgA (B2IGA), Beta-2-Glycoprotein I IgG (B2IGG) and a Beta-2-Glycoprotein I IgM (B2IGM) will be performed.

Requested panel includes Lupus anticoagulant testing (DRVVT and PTT-LA), these tests should not be performed on patients receiving rivaroxaban, apixaban, dabigatran, edoxaban, or warfarin.  For patients on these medications, order the anticardiolipin antibody and/or anti-beta-2 glycoprotein 1 antibody tests individually instead of the panel.
