Celiac Panel, Age over 2 years
Test Code: ACELPAN
Synonyms/Keywords
Sprue, Celiac, tTG
Test Components
Serum IgA level
Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA
Useful For

Order ACELPAN (Celiac Panel, Age over 2 years) on patients who HAVE reached their 3rd birthday. If the patient HAS NOT reached their 3rd birthday, order PCELPAN (Celiac Panel, Age 2 and under).

An initial serological assessment for suspected celiac disease. Panel includes tissue transglutaminase (tTG) IgA antibody, and a serum IgA level. If serum IgA levels are low, reflexive testing for tTG IgG antibody, and deamidated gliadin peptide (DGP) IgG antibody will be performed at an additional charge.

Test Information
Panel includes tTG-IgA, and total serum IgA. Patients with celiac disease produce tTG antibodies of the IgA isotype. Low levels of serum IgA may indicate an impaired production of IgA antibodies. When low serum IgA levels are detected, tTG IgG and DGP IgG will be reflex ordered at an additional charge. Tissue transglutaminase IgG and gliadin IgG antibody tests provide additional support for a differential diagnosis.
