Specimen Requirements

​Tissue Clean, non-glass, adequate size surgical container​ Adequate size sealed biohazard bag​
Collection Processing Instructions
Any fresh tissue requiring an immediate diagnosis can be sent to Histology via the 4 or 6 inch pneumatic tube system, or by transporter, daily Monday-Friday between 0500 and 2300. Please call Histology at 1-6173 before sending. Submit a completed histology request form with adequate patient history and tissue source with the labeled specimen.
 
After hours, Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays page 29-0491 for the histology tech on call. Outside number for pager is #715-389-6856. Advanced notification is required. If tissue cannot be sent to Histology within a reasonable amount of time, please contact Histology at 1-6175 for handling instructions.
 
Tissue received in any fixative is unacceptable. Tissue must be sent as soon as possible to ensure an accurate diagnosis.
