The Legionella Urinary Antigen assay is specific for L. pneumophila serogroup 1. This serogroup is responsible for greater than 70% of all cases of legionellosis. Culture is recommended for detection of other serogroups of L. pneumophila or species of Legionella, and to confirm infection.
