Pathology review and interpretation.
Useful For
Hematology consult MUST be physician requested and indication or clinical question added as comment. Consultation includes peripheral slide review, interpretation of current hemogram/differential results, and correlation of previous medical records if indicated by findings.

Collection Processing Instructions

Whole Blood:

Draw blood in lavender top tube (LTT).  After the tube has been filled with blood, invert specimen at least 5-6 times in order to facilitate mixing and prevent coagulation.

Slides:
Prepare blood smear within two hours of collection, up to 24 hours, label with computer generated label or use pencil to label with patients full name and date. Store slides at room temperature.
