Urine is preferred without preservative.
Other acceptable preservatives include 7 g sulfamic acid, 20 mL 6 N HCl, 25 mL 33% acetic acid, 10 g boric acid, or 5 g sodium carbonate.

The blood specimen ideally should be drawn during the urine collection time interval, however blood specimens drawn no earlier than 24 hours prior to the start of the collection or 24 hours after the collection ends are usually acceptable.
Patient's height (within 1 inch) and weight (within 10 lbs) should be submitted with the request to allow for result correction to standardized 1.73 sq. meter body surface area.
If height and weight are not available, use "CRCL" test code instead of "CRCLHW".
