Collection Processing Instructions
Test will be performed Monday through Sunday nights.  Specimens must be tested within 24 hours of collection.

Test Information
Test will be performed Monday through Sunday nights.  Please call Microbiology Specimen Processing, Ext 1-6134 (Local) or (Outreach) 1-800-222-5835 (ask for Ext 16134) to indicate that a specimen will be collected.
 
Specimens must arrive and be processed in the laboratory within 24 hours of collection.
 
This assay detects the presence of CMV antigen pp65, an early antigen in viral replication. Antigen is isolated from peripheral blood leukocytes. The efficacy of the test has not been established for other specimen types. CMV antigen detection has been shown to be more sensitive than shell vial culture for peripheral blood leukocyte specimens.
