Bovine, Caprine, Other, Ovine
Test Category
Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type Preferred Container/Tube Acceptable Container/Tube Specimen Volume Specimen Minimum Volume
(allows for 1 repeat)
Milk Sterile, leak proof container
Collection Processing Instructions
Do not submit in a whirl-bag. Collect milk in sterile container from clean, dry teats after preparation. Dry the teat with a dry towel. The teat should then be cleaned with alcohol, allowed to air dry, and a midstream sample obtained after the first strip of milk is discarded. Samples collected just before milking may enhance detection of microorganism. Avoid contact of the sample container with the teat. For meaningful results, sample must be free of environmental contaminants.
