Test Category
Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type Preferred Container/Tube Acceptable Container/Tube Specimen Volume Specimen Minimum Volume
(allows for 1 repeat)
Plasma Citrated Blue Top Tube (BTT) 1.0 mL 400 uL
Collection Processing Instructions

All blue top tubes must be filled to the capacity indicated on the tube for accurate analysis.

Centrifuge the Blue Top Tube and remove plasma. Transfer plasma to a clear plastic transfer tube, freeze within 1 hour of collection.

Label tube and smears with animal’s name.

Specimen Stability Information
Specimen Type Temperature Time
Plasma Frozen 6 months
Rejection Criteria
Frozen Unspun Blue Top Tubes
Clotted Blue Top Tubes
Insuffciently Filled Draw Tube
Specimen Contaminated with IV Fluids

Interference
