Collection Processing Instructions
​Serum must be separated from clot within 1 hour of collection.
Draw blood into EDTA vacuum tube. Invert sample gently 5-6 times to facilitate mixing and prevent coagulation. Prepare 1-2 peripheral blood smears. DO NOT REFRIGERATE
Label tubes and smears with animal’s name.

Test Information
​Optimally, refrigerated serum should be analyzed within 3-5 days of collection for most chemistry assays.
Platelet counts are given only if the platelet result from the analyzer is valid. If result is not valid, an estimated platelet range is given. If an actual platelet count is needed, the platelet count will need to be ordered in addition to the CBC.
