Collection Processing Instructions

This can only be collected at the Marshfield location, Monday-Thursday before 12pm.

Contact Lab Specimen Processing at 715-221-6220 or 800-222-5835 to obtain special collection kit tube.

1)      Centrifuge the 10 mL lavender top tube for 15 minutes at 1500 RCF (same as G).

2)      Affix the SID labels from requisition form to purple top tube and transfer tube.

     a.      Make sure C2N label has BOTH the patient name and DOB hand written on SID label.

3)      Place the corresponding Requisition Form and completed Informed Consent Forms in the pouch of the specimen transport bag.

4)      Immediately after centrifugation, carefully transfer plasma from the purple top tube to the 2 mL transfer tube by using a plastic pipette. Be careful not to disrupt the plasma/cell interface. The minimum specimen volume requirement is 1.5 mL plasma.

5)      After aliquoting, immediately cap the transfer tube and load the plasma specimen into the absorbent wrap. Place the absorbent wrap with specimen into the specimen transport bag and seal the bag closed. Place the specimen into the activated shipper as soon as possible, but no later than 2 hours after collection.

     a.      To activate shipper, place foil side down on a flat surface. Push straight down on the activation button (with moderate pressure, do not use a sharp object). NanoCool logo will begin to turn blue between 30 seconds to 3 minutes indicating cooling has begun and the shipper is activated.

6)      Replace the cooling engine silver side up, pressing firmly to ensure a snug fit.

7)      Secure the flaps of the shipper and tape the box closed.

8)      Affix the express courier Return Shipping Label to the shipper and ship overnight, next morning to C2N Diagnostics.

9)      Retain the bottom portion of the Return Shipping Label for your records and shipment tracking purposed. Scan this into Cerner.

Interference

False positive or false negative blood test results may occur. A diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease as the underlying cause for an individual's clinical presentation should always be considered in the context of that individual's medical and family history and physical and neurological examination. Interpretive data were derived from clinical studies in a U.S. predominantly Caucasian population of patients with mild cognitive impairment or early dementia. The extent of the differences in results (if any) based on individuals of other racial and ethnic groups has not yet been established.
