Test Information
N. gonorrhoeae is a fastidious Gram negative bacterium that can infect humans at many body sites. Prompt specimen processing and culturing is necessary for maximal recovery of N. gonorrhoeae. InTray™ GC contains Modified Thayer Martin medium and a CO2 generator in a sealed tray suitable for both incubation and transport. It features up to a 12 month shelf life when stored in the refrigerator (i.e. 2°-8°C), but tolerates room temperature during the period needed to collect and transport the specimen.

Suspected gonococcal isolates are sent to the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene for confirmation.
